15 NFL Players You Didn't Realize Are Retired: 2016

With so much talk about NFL rookie quarterbacks we seem to forget the ones that retired. I get it we watch the game and choose to forget they are not running or throwing the ball. Big names like: 1.Payton Manning, 2.Marshall Lynch, 3.Calvin Johnson, 4.Greg Jennings, 5.Percy Harvin, 6.Heath Miller, 7. Logan Mankins, 8.Manny Ramirez, 9.Phil Loadholt 10.Jared Allen 11. B.j. Raji 12.Darnell Dockett 13.Justin Tuck 14.Jon Beason and 15.Charles Woodson.

1. Payton Manning: QB

The recently retired Manning is hard to forget. He is a quarterback legend among the other gods. He's like a fine wine and just keeps getting better with age, though he's not playing anymore. Mr. Manning is heavily commercialized for his triumphs. And I'm sure the Broncos will miss him tell the next century.

2. Marshall Lynch: RB

This former running back is known as 'Beast Mode.' Lynch is hard to get over, he's taken down the Broncos in a Superbowl. The 5'11, 215 lb, Oakland CA, native is retired and we thought he's still playing. He played for University of California Berkeley and the Seattle Seahawks, and nicknamed: 'Money.' You see people can't stop naming Marshall Lynch--he's unforgettable, which is why you forgot he's retired.

3. Calvin Johnson: WR

Johnson is a diamond in the rough, best known playing for the Detroit Lions. His 133 or 132 million dollar contract speaks for itself. This is the Lions baby. At the whopping 6'5, 215 lbs, Georgian native born even beat 'Jerry Rice's record, which is now: 1,964 yards, averaging 123 yards per game. Johnson is a legend in Detroit and we forgot he's retired. Say it isn't so?

4. Greg Jennings: WR

Michigan born and never forgotten Jennings is and was the man. He's clocked at 238 receptions and 39 touchdowns in his final career. He worked side by side with 'Brett Favre' on the Green Bay Packers.

5. Percy Harvin: WR

The guy's from Virginia, but played college with the Florida Gators. His mother ran a daycare from her home too, Harvin had 351 receptions in his career need we say more. He's a Minnesota Viking's God.  One of my personal favorites to date. In my mind he's definitely not retired. But he is and he's missed.

6. Heath Miller: TE (tight-end)

Another Virginia-American born football legend. He towered the field at 6'5, 215 lbs. Miller is an infamous Pittsburgh Steeler with record stats: 6,569 yards, 591 receptions, and 45 touchdowns. It's hard for black & yellow admit he's retired. After all he has two Superbowl rings in his 11-year career.

7. Logan Mankins: G (guard)

This former legend is a Californian native  that played: guard/tackle, for Fresno State, and the New England Patriots. He is pure strength and hard to forget he's a former player. He protected his teammates and that made him the 'highest paid' guard in the league, $10 million dollars in 2012. He finished his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 7, 2016.

8. Manny Ramirez: G

Here we have a big boy guard. He played in the NFL for nine years. Born and raised Texan is a whopping: 320 lbs, clocking in at 6'5.  He ended his career with a $80,000 bonus with the Chicago Bears, which he retired on June 8, 2016.

9. Phil Loadhort: OT

This ex-offensive tackle was a key player for the Vikings, and we forget he's newly retired.  He's a Hawaiian native and is: 6'9, 346 lbs. He started on the Vikings as a rookie, which should say a lot. Unfortunately, Loadhort retired after his Achilles tendon injury and announced his retirement on July 26, 2016.

10. Jared Allen: DE

Allen is another Texas native that played college football for Idaho State. He played defensive end for: the Chiefs, Vikings, Bears, and ended with the Panthers. Most of his career was with the Chiefs and Vikings.  He towered the field at: 6'6, 255 lbs. On April 16, 2016 he signed a 'one-day contract' and retired as a Viking.

11. B.j. Raji: DT

This was the biggest boy on the field, and how can you forget the biggest & best nose tackle? He's an East Coast guy, born in New York, but playing for Boston College. Raji started the NFL with the Green Bay Packers and ended with them. He is solid Green Bay blood. His career as a tackle lasted from 2009-2015, and he announced his retirement on March 14, 2016.

12. Darnell Dockett: DE

Dockett is a Georgian, 6'4, 290 lb defensive end.  He played for the University of Florida, where he broke the record of '18 quarterback hurries.' He was a 3rd round pick with the Arizona Cardinals and signed him at a 6-year, $56 million contract in 2004. He ended his career with the San Francisco 49ers, but signed a one-day contract with his true blue Cardinals team on July 24, 2016.

13. Justin Tuck:  DE

Another NFL defensive end that will be missed in 2016. Tuck is raised in Alabama, but played college for Norte Dame. He was drafted to the New York Giants in 2005, and ended his career with the Oakland Raiders in 2015. He's nicknamed 'He-Man' for his big build, measuring at: 6'5, 255 lbs. He's been to two Super Bowls with the Giants and signed a 'one day contract' with them on Febuary 1, 2016- after 11 seasons.

14. Jon Beason: LB

Beason's former NFL career started with the Carolina Pathers in 2007, he was a 1st round pick. It ended with the New York Giants in 2015. He's from Florida and played for the University of Miami. The Giants signed him at a 3 year, $16 million contact in 2013. After his knee surgery his doctor suggested he retire, and he finished 3 seasons with the Giants in February 2016.

15. Charles Woodson: S, CB

Woodson played safety and cornerback for the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers from a rocking career year span of 1998-2016. He played college ball for Michigan State, but he's from Ohio. In 1998 he was chosen as a Raiders-defensive rookie of the year. In 2006 he signed a $52 million contract with Green Bay and won a Super Bowl with them. He ate pro bowls for breakfast winning them in: 1990's, 2000's, & 2010. Not to mention he is second in all time interceptions. Woodson brags about intercepting Payton Manning's ball. It was announced he'd retired in 2015, and later signed with ESPN Sunday's football countdown.

US Open 2016: Review

Stan The Man The over the top US Open blew me over. As in blew me over I mean the sold out ]dome in Brooklyn New York (Chase Center). The match between Wawrinka and Djokovic was great. The first two sets won by Wawrinka, whom I'm a big fan of now. The guy's outfit was perfect, it was hot pink or a magenta shade. The hot color won him the game. And the stakes were high, loser gets $1.8 million, while winner prize is $3 million. That is the highest prize money in the history of any tennis tournament. So go you  Switzerland native "Stan Wawrinka," also refereed to by some as "Stan the man."

Thursday Night Football: Browns vs. Jets

Mayfield Browns Stud-Muffin Quarterback Baker Mayfield is fun to watch he's a 23 year your old young buck from Austin, Texas. The Cleveland Browns choose him in the 2018 NFL draft and he's the first round pick. He's in a four year rookie contract with the Browns and they signed him at $32 million. Not to shabby for a young stallion-- not to mention he's entertaining to watch. Because he can throw and complete passes. Last night he executed winning the game after one of the longest losing records in the history for the NFL.  All of that's over now they have momentum and a very talented QB. Go Browns! And hurray for new QB's in the league.  Sam Darnold So-Cal Native and Jets QB Sam Darnold was the second round pick for the Jets-- also 23 years old. He was picked in the draft right behind Mayfield. So needless to say last nights game was epic, two first round picks going up against each other. I'm glad I got to watch the two new star QB's...

Raiders Beginning 2016 Preview

What a Fun Game to Start This Season Off With If you're like me and watched some Sunday football then consider yourself lucky, there was some good stuff. Not all games are as entertaining as the starting of 2016 NFL season. One that made me into a little a fan was the 'Raiders and Saints' game. It was a close game, neck to neck. And I watched Derek Carr last year and thought who is this Raiders guy? Amori Cooper and Derek Carr Rub Ballz The Raiders beat the Saints in New Orleans, there were even the crazy Raider fans in the background wearing 'Halloween costumes.' Besides the point. Carr can knock that one off his belt and they can start their season off with a win. Another mention should be wide receiver: 'Amari Cooper' who's going to be Carr's go to bro. They were so much fun to watch. The Raiders were making plays and I'm going to keep my eyes open for when they play the "Falcons" on Sunday, at the Oakland Colise...
